Lake Michigan salmon fishing is still really good but you must pick and choose the time of year to book your trip. Lake Michigan has a great Lake trout fishery but lots of people come to catch salmon. One of the best times of the season to target salmon is early May through June. There are big schools of Coho salmon, with Chinook salmon through in. We fish out of Racine Wisconsin at that time of the year because the Coho salmon schools move up from the southern end of the lake. Form Racine we can target these schools right to the Illinois state line. This is also the time of year we catch our most limits of the season. This crew of two sons and their farther took a limit of fish in early June.
