Paige catches a nice early September Chinook salmon, while Milwaukee charter fishing aboard the Silver King. Salmon start to stage to spawn around the last week of August for the southern half of Lake Michigan. The best time to catch staging Kings before they spawn and die is from late August until mid September. After that we are back out on the lake to fish for immature salmon and trout. It is an intense time fishing for salmon so close to shore and we call it combat fishing. These fish hit hard and go crazy. We usually are fishing close quarters, with other boats around but it is a rush. Paige kept calm and cool when landing her monster King.
